Middletown Area Art Show
September 11 through October 4 2009
Opening Reception Friday, September 11, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
"Evening Sledding" received the President's Award and "Arriving Somewhere...But Not Here" received First Place in Drawing at Middletown Arts Center's Area Art Show. Jurors were Claire Darley and Ken Henson, who are both currently teaching at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.

In her Juror's Statement, Claire commented on Ken's work and awarding hime the President's Award. "In awarding prizes in the drawing category, Ken (Henson) and I debated the strengths of two excellent pieces. Though very different in scale and color, a compelling sense of tension and mystery kept pulling us to closely study each, again and again. When it turned out that both were by the same artist, our choice for the President's Award became clear. We intend that being given a solo exhibition at the Middletown Arts center affirms this artist and serves as an impetus to produce 'new installments' of these intriguing narratives."

As winner of the President's Award, Ken will be exhibiting his artwork in the lobby gallery of the Middletown Arts Center during the Area Art Show in the fall of 2010.

The Middletown Arts Center is located at 13 N. Verity Parkway in Middletown, Ohio. Gallery hours are Monday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
